Shawn is leading a team at our labs in Illinois to make critically-needed viral transport medium (VTM) that will be used for 2,000 diagnostic COVID-19 tests each week in the state. VTM is a sterile solution that is placed in a test tube along with a patient sample to keep it viable at room temperature, making storage and transportation easier.
Like many companies who are stepping up during this global pandemic, this is one example of how Baxter is joining the cause. Baxter doesn't normally make VTM, but with our laboratory capabilities and VTM in short supply, Baxter offered resources to help make more available.
Being able to step up in the crisis…there is nothing more satisfying.
