Knowledge is essential to managing shifting industry forces, and that is a key determinant of success, according to Paaul Randhip, vice president of consulting operations at DivIHN Integration Inc. – a business technology solutions company – and Baxter’s nominee this year for participation in Northwestern University’s Advanced Management Education Program (AMEP).
Since 2014, Baxter has supported AMEP through the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) to help advance diverse, minority business development.
Baxter is committed to the inclusion of diverse businesses in its sourcing and procurement decisions in order to reflect the demographics of Baxter’s global customer base, and has supported educational opportunities for MBE-certified companies, which are at least 51 percent owned by minority individuals, in a variety of ways through the years.
“By developing mutually beneficial relationships with minority- and women-owned suppliers, we not only elevate their impact, but also see the positive impact on healthcare innovation,” said Monica Billinger, senior supplier diversity manager at Baxter.
In partnership with the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, the AMEP program helps enrich leadership skills and provide new perspectives to enhance minority business leaders’ institutional knowledge.

“Kellogg and its faculty are legendary, so coming into the program I already knew what to expect in terms of the quality of education that would be imparted,” Paaul said. “What I didn’t know is that I would also be the beneficiary of some invaluable lessons on resilience, perseverance, generosity and commitment, through the personal stories of the faculty and my fellow students.”
Paaul noted that as a holistic IT services business with multiple domains of specializations and services, they sometimes struggled to get their messaging across. The program facilitated conversations with other business leaders who encountered similar situations in the past, and many of the lessons he learned are now a part of the organization’s growth and marketing strategy. The educational series also provided curriculum on strategy change and growth, branding and crisis management, as well as case studies on entrepreneurial finance and best practices on high-performance teams.
