Continuous Renal Replacement Therapies (CRRT)

The Aquarius system is an automated fluid balance monitoring systems that is designed to provide multiple modalities of Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT).

Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) is defined as a rapid decline in the ability of the kidneys to clear the blood of toxic substances. This can lead to an accumulation of metabolic waste in the blood. It can result from any condition that: decreases the supply of blood to kidneys, obstructs the flow of urine once it has left the kidneys, or causes injury to the kidneys. Additionally, some of the conditions that cause AKI also may affect other parts of the body. Because of these complicated and critical sets of circumstances, health care professionals must be able to quickly administer therapies to help support patients during their AKI and other organ complications. CRRT is a group of hemotherapies that are typically performed 24 hours a day in the intensive care unit.
