Renal Therapies
Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is a dialysis treatment method for end-stage renal disease (ESRD) used primarily at home. Peritoneal dialysis works inside the body, using the peritoneal membrane, or abdominal lining, as a natural filter to remove waste from the bloodstream.
Hemodialysis (HD) is another form of ESRD dialysis therapy. It works by removing wastes and fluid from the blood by using a machine and a dialyzer, also known as an artificial kidney.
Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) is the replacement of normal kidney function on a continuous basis following an acute episode of renal failure.
