MESNEX is indicated as a prophylactic agent in reducing the incidence of ifosfamide-induced hemorrhagic cystitis. Mild hypersensitivity to systemic anaphylactic reactions to mesna have been reported, especially in patients with autoimmune disorders who were treated with cyclophosphamide and mesna. Mesna did not prevent hemorrhagic cystitis in up to 6% of patients treated. MESNEX tablets are given orally in a dosage equal to 40% of the ifosfamide dose 2 hours and 6 hours after each dose of ifosfamide.
