Producer Responsibility and WEEE in Portugal

Portuguese WEEE Regulations

The DL N. º 230/2004 is the local law which establishes the judicial system for managing Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment in Portugal

Decree-Law 6/2009, which transposes Batteries Directive 2006/66/EC, required producers to transfer their obligation for waste batteries to a licensed system by 26 September 2009

Baxter Obligation

Baxter is required to finance the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of any new electrical and electronic equipment that you buy from Baxter after August 13th 2005, when this new equipment eventually becomes waste.

WEEE Collection & Recycling Information

Baxter is registered with ANREEE (National Association for the Registry of EEE) as a producer of EEE, with the number PT000364. Baxter has also established a contract with "ERP Portugal", which covers costs of treatment and recycling of the equipment placed in market by Baxter, since 13th August 2005. Additionally, Baxter has also contract with ERP for the treatment of waste batteries placed on market.

Health & Safety Information

Baxter's customers sending equipment for recycling are required to provide a decontamination certificate for medical equipment prior to collection. Infected WEEE is not included under the scope of the directive and customers should be aware that WEEE that presents a health or safety risk to personnel because of contamination will be refused for collection.
