Producer Responsibility and WEEE in Germany

German WEEE Regulations

Germany published regulations, which came into force 24th March 2005, requiring all companies that place electrical equipment on the market to take producer responsibility for the recovery and recycling of electrical equipment at end of life. Assigned duties affect product design of the equipment, disposal of used appliances as well as organizational responsibilities, i.e. product registration, issuing of warranty, certain obligation to report, etc. There are different requirements for household WEEE and that which is sold business to business (B2B).

Baxter Obligation

All WEEE that Baxter handles is classed as B2B. Baxter is registered at the Competent Authority (EAR) under No. DE14799692. Baxter have created an option for the return and disposal of WEEE from business users for new equipment placed on the market after 13. August 2005. Baxter works together with a local certified recycling company to provide this service.
For WEEE placed on the market before 13. August 2005 the end business user is responsible for the disposal of that equipment.
