DEERFIELD, Ill, October 14, 2003 - Baxter Healthcare Corporation announced today the launch of the Syndeo PCA Syringe Pump, the latest in its line of patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) devices. The Syndeo pump, which delivers pre-determined doses of pain medication to patients on a prescribed basis, was designed with significant human factor engineering input, which incorporates end-user needs, preferences and usage patterns into various stages of the design process. The Syndeo PCA Syringe Pump combines both an intuitive user interface with built-in safety checks and a durable design, with the intent of enabling more time to focus on patient care.

"Baxter has a longstanding commitment to designing products and delivery solutions that address clinicians' medication management needs while enhancing patient safety," said David F. Drohan, senior vice president and president of Baxter's Medication Delivery business. "This product, with its intuitive user interface and unique safety features, is another example of that commitment."
