Personal Characteristics

Impact and Suitability of Alternate Work Arrangements

Personal traits and characteristics of the employee should also be considered in determining an appropriate alternate work arrangement.

Questions to consider include:

  • Is the employee particularly organized?
  • Can the employee keep priorities in focus?
  • Can the employee accept not being "seen" at all meetings and social functions?
  • Can the employee deal with recognition of group performance rather than individual performance?
  • Can the employee's lifestyle and needs tolerate financial cutbacks?
  • Will the AWA affect the existing career development plans?
  • Is the employee satisfied with the new career development plan?
