Marketing Development Program

As a professional graduating from one of the top MBA programs, you will be presented with many opportunities. Baxter offers top MBA students an exciting chance to deliver value while continuing to build your marketing and business skills.

The Marketing Development Program (MDP) is designed to attract the best MBA talent and provide a solid career foundation that will assist them in becoming outstanding marketing leaders. The MDP Associate will gain valuable experience across Baxter's four businesses with broad exposure to domestic and global marketing. Our goal is to develop the associate's knowledge of the health-care markets in which Baxter operates such as biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical technology.

Selecting a full-time role with a company that will invest in you is critical. That is why Baxter is an excellent choice.

Why Choose Baxter's Marketing Development Program

The MDP is an excellent path that allows individuals to shape their marketing careers through working with experienced professionals and within dynamic environments. The key benefits of the program are:

  • broad market exposure
  • coaching and development
  • career growth and opportunities

Broad Market Exposure
The rotations within the MDP include exposure to a variety of customer, market segments, and marketing functions such as new product development, product management, sales and e-business initiatives. In addition, at least one rotation will include exposure to a global business. The program is focused on providing MDP associates with excellent hands-on marketing experience, both strategic and tactical, with each of Baxter´s three businesses: BioScience, Medication Delivery and Renal.

Associates will develop these core skills through challenging assignments such as:

·        Strategic Planning

·    Communications

·        Decision Analytics

·    Competitive Intelligence

·        Messaging and Branding

·    Customer Advocacy Development

·        New Product Development

·    Market Research

·        Pricing and Reimbursement

Each rotation will focus on different aspects of marketing as associates build their critical marketing competencies. These include:

  • Conducting and analyzing market research to assess feasibility of a new product, service or business.
  • Developing programs that drive product utilization and brand awareness.
  • Creating pre- and post-launch promotional materials, sales training and pricing strategy.
  • Direct advertising/brand agencies on the creative development for various tactical marketing programs.
  • Develop business models involving multiple assumptions, quantity results, absorb/impact of alternatives, and develop recommendations for new product entry.
  • Developing and testing of product positioning, sales messages and sales tools for a Baxter product on a national or global scale.

Coaching & Development
The MDP associate will have a different supervisor in each rotation to support and guide him or her throughout the project. This allows associates to gain knowledge from individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences within Baxter. It also provides them with the opportunity to form strong working relationships and networks throughout their career.

Each MDP associate is assigned a mentor, in addition to his/her supervisor, who accompanies and supports him/her throughout the program. The mentors are experienced Baxter marketing professionals who develop and counsel the Marketing Development Program while providing coaching and feedback to the associates.

Career Growth & Opportunities
Upon completion of the MDP, associates will continue full time employment by identifying an opportunity within Baxter for a position upon graduation. The associates´ experiences in different Baxter business units will provide an excellent background to determine the best fit for them. The associate will work with their mentor, past supervisors, and the program management team to identify and select opportunities.

Program Structure

The MDP associates will be in the rotational program for approximately 24 months. The experience of working on different rotational assignments will provide associates with broad experiences that will guide them to future leadership roles at Baxter. Each associate will be exposed to at least three different rotations that will last from six to nine months each. These rotations will include exposure to various functions, customers, and products - at least one with exposure to a global business. The MDP management team determines rotations after consideration of the associate's developmental needs and preferences as well as Baxter's business needs.  Associates are provided with challenging, high value-added assignments that both build their marketing skills and deliver results to Baxter.
